I love running shoes, everything about them. The shape, the design, the colors, the flexibility. Something about running shoes makes me want to run. So I've been doing some browsing online trying to find a really nice, yet affordable, pair of running shoes. Most of the ones that I've found that I like are between $60 and $80, but there is this one pair....they're Nikes. I'm such a dork I've even included a pic of them lol.
They're a beauty! And I want them sooooo bad. The only catch is that they're about $120. That's WAY more than I've ever paid for shoes and I've never been the type of person to spend that kind of money on a pair of shoes (I settle just fine for Old Navy FlipFlops at $2.50 a pair), however, the way I see it is that you pay for quality. So if I buy a really nice, somewhat expensive pair of running shoes they will probably last me for a while, right? I just really want them so I guess I'm trying to rationalize buying them lol. Then I thought about it...if I can spend almost $400 on an iPod touch, which is technically something that I don't really need, then I can spend $120 on a pair of shoes that I really do need. My old running shoes are not really running shoes and they rub a spot on the back of my foot from time to time...not really comfortable when I'm running. Well...I guess I'll look into getting them when I get paid at the end of this month. Maybe I can convince my parents to pay some on them haha. Gotta love parents!
*What do you think? Comment and let me know if you think I should buy them? Should I spend that much money on a pair of shoes?
Chase,
ReplyDeleteWay to go, you are going to do this. You have the right attitude and that's what's important.
Cool shoes, I would say find a store that has them and try them on. If they feel good and fit go for it. A proper fit in shoes will make your whole body feel good.
I'm following,
SQ
Thanks so much SQ! Thanks for following my blog, I really appreciate it. I just started it about a week ago so I'm hoping I'll get tons of support and such from this. Thanks again :)
ReplyDeleteWhatever you do, remember that you should change your running shoes every 350-400 miles. If you go to a FleetFeet store, they will actually film you running and help you find shoes that give you the support you need.
ReplyDeleteI know you are partial to Nikes, but they do not make good running shoes. I would recommend Asics, Mizunos, or Brooks. Go to FleetFeet too, they're great and don't be cheap when it comes to shoes, they are very important and choosing the wrong shoe can only lead to more problems. Hope that helps!
ReplyDeleteWell I'm definately open to any suggestions. If I'm going to spend the money I want to make sure I get the best quality. Thanks for the advice :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to have to disagree with the comment that NIKES aren't good running shoes. I bought some NIKES for my birthday with the main purpose to use them for running. And they have been nothing but good for me! They give me so much more support than my old shoes and my feet don't hurt anymore now that I run in them. Maybe they aren't all like that. But Chase you are doing so well and you are truly inspiring me! I look forward to keeping up with you and your journey!
ReplyDeleteI guess people just have their own preference of shoes and what not. I prefer anything that makes my feet feel good lol. Well I'm so glad that I'm inspiring you. If I can help to motivate anyone through my journey then it's all been worth it. Keeping this blog also keeps me on track now that people are actually reading it lol. It helps me to stay more focused. Thanks for your support.
ReplyDeleteI've been running for a while and have experience with all different running shoes and I would also have to say Nikes are NOT your best running shoe. Asics or Pearl Izumi.. And I see you have the running bug, welcome to the sport. You should get Runner's World magazine. It always has a section for beginners and it's really inspiring. Every time I read it, it makes me want to run.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, and a good pair of running shoes will be at LEAST $80, usually more around $100-$120..
ReplyDeleteYeah I think I've come to the realization that I'm going to end up spending between $80 and $130 for a great pair of running shoes. My roommate and I were talking and we realized that with shoes you pay for quality. So the more you spend the better the shoe will be. I'm willing to do that in the sake of health. Yes, I have the running bug lol. I run every chance I get and I do it on the treadmill alot. I will walk just to keep my breath and muscles under control but everytime I can I'm running. I love it :) Thanks for your comments, suggestions, and encouragements :)
